Different nominal voltage 3.6v 3.7v 3.8v 3.85v for lithium battery cell

Lithium ion and lithium polymer battery, at the beginning nominal voltage (also called battery discharge platform) is 3.6V, nowadays many cell manufacturer and the market are more familiar with 3.7V, it means the battery cells perform the best around 3.7V, they work long time at this voltage. Be aware of the basic cell voltage will affect battery energy watt hours (Wh) and battery pack voltage after series.

For example 4s1p 2000mah battery pack, if the cell is 3.6v 2000mAh, then the pack voltage is 14.4V, watt hour is 28.8Wh. If the cell is 3.7V 2000mAh, pack voltage will be 14.8V, watt hour will be 29.6Wh.

Besides 3.6V and 3.7V, there is high voltage battery cell with higher energy density, mainly used on lithium polymer, called Lihv, the voltage is 3.8V (charge voltage is 4.35V) and 3.85V (charge voltage is 4.4V). The charger must be compatible with 3.8v and 3.85v cell.

High voltage cell normally born with high discharge rate, high current. it is mainly used on UAV Drone, rc hobby, laptop etc.
